Overwhelm

Help - I'm overwhelmed by all the emails in my inbox!

We went away for a few days recently. On my return, I found 317 emails in the junk mail box alone, and around 200 new emails in the normal Inbox. Instant overwhelm... "Where to start? This seems like a monumental task...I'll never get it done. Maybe if I ignored it for a while longer it will be easier?"

Do you also experience coming back from leave a bit overwhelming sometimes? So much to sort out after only a few days away?

Before I went to my pc to retrieve emails, I was switching around my winter and summer wardrobes while listening to one of the recent EFT World Summit recordings. Steve Wells's talk on Anxiety was excellent and he had some really useful EFT tips.

One of his great tips was the following: Don't talk, or say any words - just tap all the points while you're facing your challenge.

[As a side-note, this is sometimes one of the most challenge aspects of EFT for newcomers when they want to tap for themselves. We often hear: "I don't know what to say". The point of using words is only to help you stay "tuned in" to your problem while you tap. So if you're nicely tuned in anyway, saying specific words is not going to make the tapping any more useful than it already is. The magic is in staying tuned in while you tap, not in using "the right words".]

Back to the email overwhelm.

I sat down at my laptop and looked at this overwhelming list of emails, all of them still 'bold' because I haven't read it. I simply started tapping all the points in sequence while looking at my Outlook Inbox. Sometimes I felt the need to say something like "this overwhelming list", or "I don't know what to keep and what to delete". On the whole, however - no words were necessary because all the feelings about the emails were uppermost and I was tuned in while I looked at it.

Try this then, when you can't begin to think of what to say. Just focus on your current challenge and tap, tap, tap.

I found instant relief. It was much easier than I imagined to start sorting through it all. The Junkmail folder was cleared first (big feeling of accomplishment!). Then I systematically worked through the legitimate mails until it was clear.

EFT is SO effective to help us deal with our every day challenges and it doesn't need a formal tapping session either. Tap while you're doing the chores and notice how much easier they suddenly get. Have fun!

> It does not matter which order you tap the points. If you missed one, don't worry. The top-to-bottom order we teach the tapping sequence, makes it easier to remember, but is not the only way that works.
